NATIONAL COMPETITIONS
UNSW IV: 19-21 August
With Chris Bisset as Co-CA, who could possibly look past this fantastic NSW base tournament? UNSW IV is an ‘open’ tournament, featuring open motions, which leads to a unique debating experience. Registration is cheap, and UNSW have offered to house debaters for no cost, so the price of the tournament is much lower than other similar intervarsities.

President's Cup: 19-21 August
President's Cup, the DAV's premier debating tournament, is happening again this year! The tournament will run on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of August from 9am-5pm each day at Wesley College's St Kilda road campus.
This is a great opportunity to get back into post-school debating if you're a bit rusty, or start the semester two transition to BP! You can access the Facebook event for more information! Moreover, registration is now live! You can access the registration form here.
ANU Mini: 2-4 September
ANU Mini brings a sleepy, politics town to life with rambunctious socials, competitive debating and extremely cheap alcohol! ANU Mini is a favourite for debaters from Monash on the IV scene and spots are always fiercly fought for. Register early to avoid disappointment!

Women’s: 23-26 September
The Australian Women’s Debating Championships is a celebration of the contribution which female debaters have made to debating in Australasia. Women’s is a relaxed and non-threatening opportunity to gain some experience in the British Parliamentary debating style.
In 2011, Women’s will be hosted at our very own Monash University!

Melbourne Mini 2011
Dates: Friday the 2nd to Sunday the 4th of December.
Cost: $50 for debaters and $30 for adjudicators

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS
Australs
The Australasian Debating Championships (Australs) is the best tournament of the year. Held in early July every year, the tournament brings together 400 students from across the Asia Pacific region for seven days of debating and exceptional social events on every night.
In 2009, MAD hosted Australs and won the tournament, continuing our club’s fantastic history at Australs. The Best Speaker award at Australs is named after one of MAD’s finest debaters, Martin Sorensen.
In 2010, Australs will be hosted at the University of Auckland. MAD subsidises the costs of the debaters and adjudicators attending every year. We will be releasing more information about the Australs selection process in the coming weeks.
Worlds
The World Debating Championships is the most prestigious debating tournament in the world. Held in the British Parliamentary style, Worlds brings together students from countries as diverse as Canada, the US, Botswana, France, Malaysia and the UK. The New Year’s party which is held every year at Worlds is an unmissable event.
The 2011 World Debating Championships will be held in Botswana from December 27-January 4. We will release more information about this tournament as it comes to hand.
