EQUITY

Why do we have equity officers?

The role of the equity officers is to ensure that club events and activities are conducted in a manner that is as fair as possible. We are committed to making the club safe and welcoming, whilst still making sure you have a great time.

What do equity officers do?

1. We address concerns about club culture and policy by paying special attention to groups of people that can feel left out at times. This involves promoting special events and training, as well as discussing affirmative action, novice rules and sponsorship. If you have suggestions about what the executive can do to make the club fairer or more inclusive, let us know.

2. We are also there to help in those rare times when you may have a concern or conflict with another club member. We want to stress that the equity officers are there for you. You can chat to us about any issue, big or small. Small problems can often be fixed easily, so try and get in touch with us before things escalate. You can also be assured that we will handle your concerns with utmost care, and take the action that you want us to take. Whether you just want to talk, or want us to take the matter further, we are there to help you get the outcome you want.

What kind of events will be run by the equity officers throughout the year?

In addition to ensuring regular training for ESL club members, we will be running an ESL Training Weekend early in semester 1. Following this will be a range of social events over the year, including first year events and a womens' night.

How do I get in touch with the equity officers?

We realise that concerns can arise quickly and out of nowhere, so we will be making a huge effort to be present at all club events and tournaments, so that you can always come and speak to us in person. When that isn't possible, you can email both the equity officers at any time at

If you wish to contact one of us separately, email
