MAD is a diverse club, and this is reflected through the diverse membership base. It is this involvement that allows for MAD to be able to publish several publications throughout the year. The trademark Monash Debating Review, of course, is our crowning glory, the world's only journal discussing debating, adjudicating and related issues.
This is not to say that members are neglected. For members, there is the Tastebud that members receive via email, keeping people updated on what is happening in MAD.
However, the main publication published for members is the magazine Silvertongue. This magazine contains articles on anything and everything a MAD member would be interested in, namely news, rants, views on current events, reports on debating tournaments and on the rare occasion, something on debating and adjudicating that can be constructively used.
Members write on all the aforementioned subject areas, be it someone who has been a MADdie for an extended period of time, or a first timer. Anyone can write an article, and it will usually get published. As long as you are not offending anyone, you can guarantee that you'll have the honour of seeing your name in print in Silvertongue. It's a great avenue to showcase your talents, and get to know other people in the club.
So, get involved. Offer your opinions on how Silvertongue can be improved, hand your articles in, or just have a chat with the editor with your ideas. Remember, members are not restricted to the writing aspect. It's your magazine folks, and without your valuable contributions the publication would never see the light of day.
