MAD-MUDS Sendoff Night
When: Wednesday, June 29, 6pm Where DAV Offices (Suite 6, 87-89 Flemington Rd North Melbourne), then on to the Redback Hotel. Don't miss the final social event before Australs!!! A cracking Monash team made up of Jake "Working Class" Clifton, Michael "SMG" Stagg and Fiona "Bathrooms" Prowse will take on a similar star team from the University of Melbourne in front of members of both MAD and MUDS, so come along, and be loud and proud! The debate will take place at the DAV's offices, and then following we'll move on over to the Redback Hotel (it's only a short walk away) to properly send off Victoria's Australs contingents as they seek to maintain our grip on the Australs trophy. All welcome, don't miss it! Australasian Debating Championships Tournament Dates: July 3-11, 2005 Tournament Cost: Debaters $550, AIDA Accredited Adjudicators $500 Tournament Website: University of Queensland Debating Society The Australasian Debating Championships will be held in sunny Brisbane, hosted by our good friends at the University of Queensland, from the 3rd to the 11th of July. MAD has traditionally dominated Australs, appearing in 10 out of the last 13 grand finals, winning on six occasions, and has had 8 out of the last 13 best speakers. Furthermore, Monash are the current Australasian Champions, and will seek to go back-to-back once again. However, debating positions are limited, and thus MAD holds trials to determine the teams. There are two stages - stage 1 is for everyone who has not debated at an Australs or Worlds, and have not progressed to stage 2 Australs trials before. A limited number from stage 1 go through to stage 2, depending on how many people apply, and then Stage 2 is held to determine the final teams. This trials process has now been completed and congratulations go out to all who trialled and/or are adjudicating in Brisbane. Monday Meetings When? Every Monday, 1pm Where? H8 (bottom of the Menzies building) Contrary to what Silvertongue says, Monday meetings have been moved this year to H8 (at the bottom of the Menzies building). They've gone off all year, right from our first champagne welcome. See what's coming up this week below. Calendar
